UV damage is a serious problem for all forms of art but especially for silk painters. Silk must receive a form of protection from UV light or it will fade.
How to protect silk from UV: Common forms of protection are usually UV treated plexiglass or museum glass. There are currently some UV varnishes made by Golden that can help in protecting silk if it is mounted on a substrate such as wood or canvas. Prolonged exposure to sunlight will always damge silk even with a UV protectant. |
